THE OPPORTUNITY:
Lead and oversee the organization’s business development priorities, including proposal writing and bid preparation, to maximize the Company’s opportunities in gaining new business offering a variety of hospitality services in national, state, and local parks and forests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Responsible for leading the bid analysis and proposal response process to ensure maximum wins to grow the Company’s portfolio
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders through timely and effective business development strategies
- Lead and oversee the business development team to ensure the highest levels of performance while delegating tasks in an appropriate manner
- Prepare reports and presentations on current and future opportunities for the CEO and ownership as requested
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and yearly budgets, allocating resources appropriately
- Conduct site and area research and implement new proposal response strategies based on findings
- Monitor industry trends and the competitive landscape and keep the business development team and executive management apprised
- Aligned with Operations and Accounting/Finance, ensure that bid opportunities are researched and analyzed to ascertain those bids that are most beneficial to the Company
- Assist, as requested, with new site set-up facilitating the introduction of key relationships and other critical items to ensure a successful opening
- Continually identify new ways to prepare compelling and winning bids
- Ensure team proficiency to understand and capitalize on new opportunities
KEY QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
- Professional-level writing skills; expert user of Microsoft Word
- Extensive project management experience
- Strong business acumen with ability to read/analyze financial statements
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines and perform with the highest professional and ethical standards
- Must respond well to a changing work environment and able to perform under pressure
- Must possess strong leadership and managerial skills that include the ability to coach, develop and clearly communicate expectations
- Must have excellent analytical and problem-resolution skills with the ability to proactively recommend solutions
- Must demonstrate effective verbal communication skills
- Must possess solid understanding of bid writing, branding and business operations
- Must be willing to travel
Other Qualifications & Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, business, or related field
- Master of Business Administration strongly preferred
- Minimum 8-10 years successful experience in proposal writing and leadership (preferred)
