The National Shrine of Mary, Mother of the Church is a 501(c)(3) Missouri Corporation that manages and maintains the programs, fundraising, operations, and facilities for The National Shrine of Mary, Mother of the Church (www.mothersshrine.com). It was the 17th shrine to receive designation as a National Shrine by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Owned by the Diocese of Jefferson City Real Estate Corporation, the Shrine is located in Laurie, Missouri, and relies entirely on donor support.
The Shrine hosts various programs such as outdoor Masses for visitors to the Lake of the Ozarks, pilgrimages, retreats and Marian conferences. In 2016, it was designated a Holy Door during the Jubilee Year of Divine Mercy. Each year more than 10,000 people attend summer Masses and over 8,000 attend various programs.
The Executive Director is responsible for the Shrine’s management and strategic growth, ensuring the facilities, administration, programs, and financial resources align with its mission. This role requires entrepreneurial leadership to build a world-class pilgrimage site, working with the Board and staff to achieve long-term goals.
