As I wrap up my 18-month marketing internship position with Cornerstone Executive Search, I know a few things about the recruiting process and professional world to be true.
- Retained search firms are worth the money. Being outside of the recruiting process for so long, I have seen many companies waste much of their time, money and resources just to get an “okay” candidate. Using an executive recruiting firm like Cornerstone Executive Search guarantees hirable candidates in a much shorter time period.
- If you aren’t already putting an emphasis on client relationships, you need to. The last two years have certainly tested face-to-face interaction. However, this does not dismiss the significance of getting to know your clients’ wants, needs and desires before you start to work with them.
- Marketing in any industry requires consistency, strategy and intention. For your marketing efforts to achieve successful results, you must create a well-thought-out strategic plan that will adhere strictly to what your audience needs. This means creating content with a purpose and specific goal in mind.
Lastly, I cannot stress the importance of finding a company that allows you to grow both personally and professionally. Being able to work flexibly while finishing my last 2 years at The University of Kansas gave me real world experience in a professional environment and an opportunity to immediately put into practice what I was learning in my courses. I am grateful for everything about Cornerstone Executive Search and am happy to say I am now a full-time Brand Manager and so excited for what the future holds.
