Just before Christmas, our team gathered for our 2026 annual meeting.
Our owners finalized the 10-year vision for the firm and there was a lot of excitement in the room, especially coming off consecutive record growth years.
Before sharing our collective goals, growth plans and team presentations for year one of this vision, our owners began with the question, “Why do we want to grow?”
It was a great question to set the stage for the next chapter in our firm’s 45+ year history. Some of the reasons for growth included:
- No single person is carrying the load = balance
- Challenges us to be more creative
- Work becomes more fun
- We share in the wins and losses as a team
- We untap our God-given potential to impact the lives of others
When we grow, we positively impact the lives of more companies, more people and more families. It changes the world for the better.
This prompted a team activity, “Who have you impacted this year?”
We went around the table and each team member shared a story of how they made a positive impact in the lives of others in the past year.
For me, I thought about a text message I had just received from a candidate we placed 30 days into his new company and position. The message read:
“Today is my one-year anniversary of my previous position being eliminated. Earlier today, I took a 5 AM flight home, had a business meeting (with my new company), went to Mass with my wife and had a celebration dinner. My thanks to you carries so much. Hard to describe how much.”
The journey with this particular company, hiring team and candidate was one of my favorite impact stories of 2025.
Most importantly, it reminds me of why we do this work – to serve others and change lives.
With the new year upon us, now is a great time to ask, “Who will you impact this year?”
