The Covid-19 pandemic has forced both employer and employees to reexamine how we do business. More people are saying “no” to regular 8 am – 5 pm jobs in search of more autonomy and better work/life balance and employers are seeing that accommodating remote or hybrid is a win-win for the company and valued employees. Happy employees are productive employees.
Employees working off-site can create a disconnect if employers and employees aren’t making efforts to stay “connected”. Since there is more physical distance, it is important that employers check-in from time to time as their people can easily be approached online by other companies. A great way to cement talent is to show interest and ask questions:
- How is your life outside of work?
- Do you know how much we value you and your contribution?
- What would make you think about leaving?
- How can I support you?
- What are your career goals?
